“Black Radio” is the fifth studio album by Robert Glasper, an American jazz pianist/composer/producer born in 1978, from Houston, Texas. It was released in 2012 from the Blue Note label.
Ht was recorded with his electric quartet based on hip-hop, the Robert Glasper Experiment.
The album is a masterpiece of crossover jazz that incorporates elements of hip-hop, contemporary R&B, neo-soul, and alternative rock with natural and sophisticated sound production.
The guest musicians are neo-soul singer Erykah Badu, R&B singer Lalah Hathaway, R&B/jazz vocalist Bilal, rapper Lupe Fiasco, R&B singer Ledisi, and others.
The album Includes covers of “Cherish the Day” by Sade, “Letter to Hermione” by David Bowie, and “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana.
This album won Best R&B Album at the 55th Grammy Awards.
