“Café Bleu” is the debut album by the Style Council, an English band formed in 1982 by Paul Weller (vocals, guitar), an ex-member of the punk rock/new wave/mod revival band the Jam, and Mick Talbot (keyboards, piano, Hammond organ), an ex-member of Dexys Midnight Runners.
Recorded in 1984. Released by Polydor Records. It reached No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart.
Sophisti-pop based on blue-eyed soul with a mixture of styles such as soul, jazz, bossa nova, funk, and rap.
It includes singles, “My Ever Changing Moods” (No. 5 on the UK chart) and “You’re the Best Thing” (No. 5 on the UK chart).
“The Paris Match” is an acoustic track featuring Ben Watt (guitar) and Tracey Thorn (vocals) from Everything but the Girl.
